Programs & Events

The Center for Teaching and Learning offers a wide variety of events to meet the needs of teachers across the university. These opportunities are designed to spark new ideas, provide new strategies, or simply re-energize one's teaching.

Summer Teaching Institutes
Join colleagues from across campus in an intensive learning experience that will energize your teaching!

Workshops
Register online for upcoming workshops. Each one offers an opportunity to learn new strategies, connect with other instructors, and reflect on our practice.

Active Learning at Lunch
There are all kinds of fantastic strategies that we, as teachers at Boise State, are using to actively engage our students in learning. Come spend a collegial hour over lunch hearing about what is happening in others' classes and discussing ideas about active learning.

Boise State Teaching Scholars
The Boise State Teaching Scholars Program is designed to stimulate dialogue, reflection and innovation in teaching, foster a sense of community, and promote scholarly teaching practice. Sponsored by the Center for Teaching and Learning, the Boise State Teaching Scholars program involves interdisciplinary communities of faculty in a year-long process of inquiry to promote faculty development and enhance student learning.

10 Before Tenure
The Ten Before Tenure program is designed to provide a flexible framework in which untenured faculty can invest in their development as teachers. The program lays the foundation for a career-long practice of on-going development in all areas of one's faculty life.

Faculty Writing Circles
Faculty writing circles are small groups of faculty who meet regularly to provide support and feedback about one's scholarly writing. Involvement in a faculty writing circle can be a good way to keep one's scholarship moving forward.

Graduate TA Orientation
To support TAs as they prepare for their duties, the Center for Teaching and Learning is hosts a Graduate Teaching Assistant Orientation event each fall. The orientation will connect TAs across disciplines, provide TAs with the opportunity to reflect on their role as teacher, and provide individuals with resources and strategies that will make teaching easier and more effective.
