The New Adjunct Orientation is hosted by the the Boise State Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL), which is the nucleus of a university culture that values teaching and learning. The Mission of the CTL is to support, promote, and enhance teaching effectiveness and to facilitate engagement in student learning. The CTL is a resource for all instructors who care about the learning environment they create for students. Our New Adjunct Orientation for the Spring 2018 semester will be held on January 4th from 6-9 PM in the Interactive Learning Center (ILC) room 315.
The New Adjunct Orientation is designed to introduce you to the culture and students of Boise State, and provide you with teaching tools you can use in your class from the first day to the last. The evening will include dinner and an opportunity for casual conversation and networking with colleagues.
The agenda for the New Adjunct Orientation is as follows:
6-6:30 – Welcome dinner and overview of Boise State Students
6:30-7 – Strategies for the first day of class
7-7:30 – Creating an inclusive classroom
7:30-8 – Opportunity to meet with representatives from Human Resources, the Office of Information Technology, the Albertsons Library and Blackboard support to learn more about resources available to you at Boise State
8-8:30 – Formative Assessment: How to know what and when your students are learning
8:30-9 – Question and Answer period; overview of CTL and other campus resources
In addition, from 5-6 PM representatives from our Blackboard support team will be available in ILC 313 to answer any questions about setting up the Blackboard site for your course.
